The pilot's handbook

New to the sky? Start here. Everything below applies to RivalsEvolution's EP4.6 core.

Getting started

RivalsEvolution is a space-combat MMO where two nations wage an endless war across open skies. You fly a customizable craft called a gear, level it up, and fight for your side.

Your first five minutes

  • Create an account on this site — it's free and instant, and comes with a starter Cash & WarPoint pack.
  • Download the client and let the launcher patch you to the live build.
  • Create a character: pick a gear class, a pilot face and a gender. You start as a neutral Cadet.
  • Fly the tutorial zone, grind a few levels, then pledge to a nation and join the war.
Tip: your gear class is chosen at character creation and defines your whole playstyle. Read The four gears before you commit.

The two nations

Every veteran pilot swears allegiance to one of two powers. Cadets fly neutral until they choose — and the choice is permanent for that character.

BCUBygeniou City United

An industrial superpower that answers aggression with overwhelming, coordinated firepower. Disciplined fleets, fortress doctrine, blue engine trails.

ANIArlington National Institute

A fast, defiant coalition that strikes where the enemy is weakest and vanishes before the counter lands. Mobility, sharp edges, red engine trails.

Your nation decides who you can shoot, who you fight alongside, and which bases you defend. The war between them never truly ends — see The Nation War.

The four gears

Four craft classes, four roles. A balanced formation runs all four — each covers the others' weaknesses.

✈️
A-Gear
ATTACKER · AIR SUPERIORITY

The all-rounder dogfighter. Machine guns and homing missiles, solid durability and agility. The most forgiving class — the recommended start for new pilots.

💥
B-Gear
BOMBER · HEAVY ASSAULT

The wrecking ball. Air-to-ground bombs and heavy missiles, huge HP, slow. Devastating against structures and motherships — the anchor of every base assault.

⚡
I-Gear
INTERCEPTOR · HIT & RUN

The blade. Extreme speed and mobility, beam weapons, fragile hull. Hunts bombers and stragglers, scouts the battlefield, and disengages on its own terms.

🛡️
M-Gear
DEFENDER · SUPPORT

The lifeline. Shields, repairs, EMP and buffs for the whole formation. Tanky support that keeps the wing alive — indispensable in organized nation war.

New? Fly an A-Gear first. It teaches core combat without punishing mistakes, and stays useful at every level.

Stats & progression

Every level you gain grants points to shape your gear. There is no single "right" build — it depends on your class and role.

The six attributes

  • Attack — raw weapon damage.
  • Defense — damage reduction and survivability.
  • Fuel — flight endurance and boost capacity.
  • Soul (SP) — the resource that powers active skills.
  • Shield — your regenerating energy barrier.
  • Dodge — chance to evade incoming fire.

New gear frames and weapons unlock as you climb the level tiers. Reaching the level cap is only the beginning — the real depth is in gearing, enchanting and the war.

Gears, items & enchanting

Your craft is a loadout: a body frame plus weapons, an engine, a booster, a shield and more. Better parts and higher enchant levels are how you grow stronger after the cap.

Item grades

Parts come in rising grades, with rarer items carrying stronger base stats and special properties. Hunt them from monsters, craft them from recipes, or trade for them.

Enchanting

Weapons and gear can be enchanted to raise their power, all the way up to +40 on RivalsEvolution. Each level adds stats — but the odds tighten as you climb, so high enchants are a real badge of dedication.

Look it up: every item, recipe and drop rate is searchable in the Pedia.

Combat & formations

Dogfighting is about energy, positioning and locks — not just aim. Manage your boost, hold your shield, and never fly alone.

  • Lock-on weapons track their target; keep your reticle on target to keep the lock.
  • Boost burns fuel for speed — vital for chasing kills and escaping ambushes.
  • Formations: flying grouped with allies grants shared bonuses and keeps a support M-Gear in range.
  • Skills cost Soul (SP) — from burst damage to shields to EMP. Timing them wins fights.

The Nation War

The heart of RivalsEvolution. Bygeniou and Arlington fight a persistent war for control of the sky, and every pilot's kills feed it.

Win fights and objectives to earn War Points (WP) and Cumulative WP — the currency of rank and prestige, and the number you'll see on the rankings. Large battles center on mothership engagements and base assaults, where bombers break defenses while defenders and fighters hold the line.

Every kill counts. Even solo roaming contributes to your nation's war effort and your personal standing.

Guilds & arena

You'll fly further with a wing behind you.

Guilds

Join or found a guild to fly with a regular squad, coordinate war operations and climb the guild rankings together.

Arena

Prefer pure PvP? The Arena pits pilots against each other in controlled matches — your wins and losses are tracked on your profile and the PvP ladder.

Rookie tips

  • Install the client outside Program Files to avoid Windows permission prompts.
  • Start as an A-Gear — it's the most forgiving way to learn.
  • Don't dump all stat points blindly; match your build to your gear's role.
  • Fly with others. A lone gear is a target; a formation is a threat.
  • Watch your fuel — running dry mid-fight is how rookies die.
  • Use the Pedia before you spend on gear or enchants.
